Tokyo is plagued by mysterious human-like creatures known as ghouls who feed on human flesh. Ordinary college student Ken Kaneki becomes involved in a deadly encounter with one and barely survives — only to awaken as a half-ghoul himself.

Now forced to live between two worlds, Kaneki struggles to hide his identity from humans while learning to control his insatiable hunger. Torn between fear, guilt, and instinct, he must decide who he truly is — a man or a monster.
